MMEP 2012: 2nd Intl Conf on Modelling and Management of Engineering Processes

Opening: Closed
Closing: Closed

The current economic situation demonstrates that the design and development of innovative products is an imperative for every economy and industry to remain competitive on the world market. One key to overcome this challenge is the design and implementation of innovative processes in design and engineering. Academic research and management practice require a more detailed understanding of these processes, develop better management approaches and exploit hidden potentials to improve the business.

The aim of the second international conference is to showcase recent trends in modelling and management of engineering processes, explore potential synergies between different modelling approaches, gather and discuss future challenges for the management of engineering processes and discuss future research areas and topics. Based on the latest achievements in this and related fields, we aim to landmark the research map for Modelling and Management of Engineering Processes for 2020.

We cordially invite you and your colleagues to participate in the 2nd International Conference on Modelling and Management of Engineering Processes at the University of Cambridge, UK.

On behalf of the Special Interest Group MMEP of the Design Society this event is being organised by the Engineering Design Centre at Cambridge University.

Following the research roadmapping work carried out in 2009-2010 the organisers would encourage researchers and colleagues from industry to submit papers within the following areas:

Metrics & ROI & Value of process modelling
Human factors in process modelling and management
    Uncertainty in process modelling
    Visualisation of design processes

Furthermore we also would like to welcome papers addressing the following topics:

Theoretical foundation of modelling and management of engineering processes and achievements in theory
Experiences from management practice using various modelling methods and tools and their future challenges
New perspectives on modelling methods, techniques and tools

Important dates:
15 March 2012    Call for Papers
15 July 2012    Submission of full paper (12 pages) (One of the reviewers will be from industry)
