Deadline: Closed

Industrial design permeates every part of our lives. It has made the cars we drive more comfortable, electronics more seductive and streamlined and has made cooking fast and easy. Although convenience and appeal has taken the forefront in modern society, it is a different outcome of industrial design that has satisfied human's most essential need, our need for safety, efficiency and resilience in the world around us.

This June 29th on World Industrial Design Day we celebrate not only the elements of design we see and admire everyday, but the hidden elements that help our world withstand disaster and assist those in need. Our ability to build a resilient, safe and controllable environment to benefit all of humanity depends on the innovations we make today; the only limit is our creativity.

Competition brief
To celebrate World Industrial Design Day 2010, design students from Icsid Member Schools are put to the challenge to create a poster that illustrates the significance industrial design has in helping humanity.

The poster can be a creative illustration or an illustration of the design of a product that captures this year's theme:

"Industrial Design: Humane solutions for a resilient world"

Eligibility
The competition is open exclusively to design students enrolled in an Icsid Member School, at no fee.

Voting & Selection of winner
A distinguished panel of design professionals and field experts - representatives from the Icsid Executive Board - will judge the competition and select the shortlist of five posters that will be voted on by the public.

One (1) winner will be decided based on total votes through public, online voting. The winner will be announced on 31 May 2010.

The winning entry will be used by Icsid and distributed in digital format (PDF) to its network of members for promotional initiatives relating to World Industrial Design Day 2010.

Judging criteria
Entries will be judged on the following criteria:
