Fiera di Vicenza S.p.A., with the scientific collaboration of the School of Design Politecnico di Milano, is holding an international Competition for young, under - 30 designers. Contenders will be required to design an item of jewellery as a Souvenier d’Italie which would evoke the best of Italy through contemporary aesthetics.
Inspiration may be taken from any formal, artistic, technological, material, historical or scenic aspect of Italy.
Fiera di Vicenza S.p.A. believes in the young generation and the Competition is an indispensable scouting tool that brings to light and promotes new talent in the international gold and jewellery business.
The deadline for design entry is 16th March 2012. Prizes will be awarded at VICENZAORO Charm in May 2012.
The Theme
The theme of the Competition 2012 is the design of an item of jewellery
to represent a Souvenir d’Italie, intended not only as an object for memory recall but also as a formal, artistic, technological, material and historical reference to the country of Italy. While contenders have free rein as to the materials they use, the final product must be an item of jewellery: a ring, earrings, pendant, necklace, bracelet or brooch.
The Competition is open to all under-30 designers from Italy and abroad who, on 30th January 2012 are still under 30 years of age (date of birth not before 30th January 1982). Participants may present several different ideas as long as separate Competition entry forms are used. Designs must be entirely new and explicitly created for the Competition. Participation in the Contest implies unconditional acceptance of all rules, regulations and Jury decisions.
Documents
1. Competition entry form on unstamped paper complete with the contestant’s personal details (date and place of birth, address, telephone number and e-mail) and an explicit declaration of Competition regulation acceptance.
2. Maximum no. 2, size A3 design illustrations, in black and white or colour and in free scale, mounted on a rigid but light support (max. thickness 5mm); a 5-cm wide strip, divided into 3 columns, should be positioned at the top of the page to contain the following: Fiera di Vicenza S.p.A. logo
2012 - Souvenir d’Italie” in the centre; the contender’s name and surname on the right.
Assessment Methods
Designs will be selected and assessed according to their originality, degree of innovation, modern interpretation of a souvenir, interaction with the human body and potential for production in series.
Prizes
The euro 6.000.00 total prize money will be divided as follows:
1st prize: euro 3.000
2nd prize: euro 2.000
3rd prize: euro 1.000
