To celebrate publication of his latest book, Ray Harryhausen’s Fantasy Scrapbook, Don’t Panic has teamed up with publishers Aurum Press and Barbican Film to offer three talented animators the chance to meet Ray at his home and have their stop-motion animation short shown at a glittering Ray Harryhausen night at the Barbican next spring.

Ray Harryhausen is perhaps best known for creating weird and wonderful monsters and creatures. Your task is to create a winning storyboard on the theme of monsters for a stop motion animation short that, when shot, would last between 30 seconds and 3 minutes.

The three winners will also receive a tutorial session from tutors in the animation department of the National Film and Television School. They will be profiled along with their shorts shown on the Barbican and Don’t Panic websites, win a year’s free Yellow Membership and signed copies of Ray Harryhausen’s Fantasy Scrapbook.

About judging

- The ten entries with the most votes from other people on the site will go through to a shortlist along with up to two wild card entries chosen by our judging panel
- The judging panel will chose three winners from the shortlist.
- The judging panel is: Robert Rider, Head of Cinema at the Barbican, Helen Nabarro, Head of Animation Directing at the National Film and Television School, Jodie Mullish, Head of Marketing at Aurum Press, Tony Dalton, co-writer of Ray Harryhausen’s Fantasy Scrapbook and curator of the Ray and Diana Harryhausen Foundation
- Entries will be judged on creativity, artistic talent, storytelling and feasibility

Prizes
All three winners will:

- Meet Ray at his London home
- Receive a tutorial session from tutors in the animation department of the National Film and Television School
- Have their finished shorts screened at at a Ray Harryhausen event at the Barbican, and receive a pair of free tickets to the event
- Be profiled along with their shorts shown on the Barbican and Don’t Panic websites
- Win a year’s free Yellow Membership at the Barbican, including 20% off all films and 30% off entry to the Barbican Art Gallery for you and 1 guest
- Win signed copies of Ray Harryhausen’s Fantasy Scrapbook, The Art of Ray Harryhausen, A Century of Model Animation
