RECIPROCITY Design Liege

Developed on the initiative of the Province of Liège and of the “Office provincial des Métiers d’Art de Liège” (OPMA), RECIPROCITY is the new name of the International Design Biennial in Liège which will take place from 5th to 28th October 2012. For this 6th edition, the General Management was given to “Wallonie Design” and the Artistic Direction to Giovanna Massoni.

“Design as an agent for innovation and for social and civic cohesion is the red thread of RECIPROCITY”, says Paul-Emile Mottard, Provincial Deputy for Culture and Chairman of the OPMA. The detailed programme of exhibitions, lectures and meetings will be published in the course of 2012.

Design and social innovations

RECIPROCITY is a concept which combines the notion of “reciprocity” and that of the “city”.
This formula underlines some ethical values which define design: exchange, respect and generosity.
Highlighting the link between design and society, it expresses an action which encourages to share, to exchange know-how and to create social processes of change together.

RECIPROCITY wishes to promote collaboration opportunities, facilitate the exchanges and generate a proactive relationship between publics, designers, businessmen and institutions, by means of exhibitions, international conferences and meetings.

Laboratory and showcase of ‘best practices’, RECIPROCITY will gather a great number of local, cross-border (Euregio Meuse-Rhine) and international people in order to generate a big debate on the role played today by design involving media, professionals and public audience. Design as an agent for innovation and for social and civic cohesion is the red thread of RECIPROCITY.
