Ambiente from February 10 through 14, 2012 in Frankfurt/Main
From 10 to 14 February 2012, over 4,500 exhibitors will once again make Frankfurt the ‘place to be’ of the consumer-goods sector. With its three sections – Dining, Giving and Living – Ambiente covers the entire spectrum of consumer goods for the table, kitchen, household, wining and dining, giving, the home and furnishing. The numerous design and trend themes at Ambiente represent unequivocal added value.
Denmark the first Ambiente Partner Country
As in neighbouring Denmark, design is very important at Ambiente with great importance being attached to exhibitors such as Eva Solo, Menu A/S and Stelton. So it is hardly surprising that this internationally renowned design nation has been chosen as the first Ambiente Partner Country. And this choice is being marked by an extensive programme of events. For example, an exhibition entitled ‘10+ Design Forecast Denmark – Future Living’ is being organised in cooperation with the Danish Design Centre. There, ten well-known Danish designers and creative newcomers will demonstrate how innovative sustainability and aesthetic qualities can be blended to create new kinds of products. Even the presentation system comes from Denmark – the GRID System, a flexible system for room constructions developed by designer Peter J. Lassen, which can be used as a presentation element and / or an independent sculpture. Danish designers and entrepreneurs will offer important ideas and insights into a variety of different design subjects at the lecture area on Denmark Day when a visit from the Danish Royal Family is also expected.
New: ‘Solutions’
New materials, technologies and properties are the distinguishing features of tomorrow’s consumer goods. And they are the focal point of the new ‘Solutions’ special show. Created by Messe Frankfurt for Ambiente, ‘Solutions’ specifically aims to inform buyers about product innovations that are highly relevant to the market but not defined primarily via design aspects. The special exhibition is the work of international award-winning industrial designer Sebastian Bergne from London.
Ambiente Trends 2012: colours are trumps!
‘bora.herke.palmisano’ is an internationally renowned team of designers in great international demand for their accurate trend forecasts. With sensitivity and great experience, Claudia Herke, Cem Bora and Annetta Palmisano continuously analyse international trends in the fields of fashion, architecture and design. For Ambiente, they use this knowledge to develop their trend forecasts and present them in the impressive Trend Show.
Optimism, lots of colour, exciting contrasts and the reduction to essentials – these are distinguishing features of the consumer-goods trends of the 2012 season. The designers have created four trend worlds and illustrated them with several hundred products from the latest collections of the Ambiente exhibitors.
International newcomers with inspiring and creative design ideas
41 design students, graduates and budding designers have been selected for the ‘Talents’ promotional programme at Ambiente 2012. This is not only more than ever before – the ‘Talents’ areas are also more international than in the past. At Ambiente, they have the chance to show their prototypes and first small series in a professional environment. Ambiente is an established launching pad for many newcomers to the design scene. But that’s not all. The industry also benefits from the programme because the ‘Talents’ areas are pools of new, fresh ideas – places where companies can discover and make contact with young, interesting design talents.
Trend scouts at Ambiente
For the first time, Fontys University of Applied Sciences, The Netherlands, has joined forces with the Ambiente to send young trend scouts to the fair. The search is on for future-oriented, innovative products. Fontys University of Applied Sciences is the only European university to offer a course of study on the subject of ‘Trend Watching’.
