Timeless Trophy for the Deco Debutante Award

The winner of the Deco Debutante Award will be announced on the 3rd November at the Deco Affair when they will be presented with a stunning white onyx sculpture designed by Mark Humphrey and engraved with their name. This will be passed on to each Deco Debutante Award winning designer.

The rare pure white onyx sculpture was hand carved in Pietra Santa, Italy where Mark crafts all his art pieces. There are only 5 editions ever made. This is edition 5/5. Mark Humphrey describes this trophy as “a sculptural piece representing the core values of the Deco Affair brand – original and innovative with a healthy balance of modern glamour and meticulous standards. The trophy is a timeless physical statement, a precious art piece for future young creative minds to win.”

The Deco Award is part of the Deco Affair and will, this year, be presented to the KLC School of Design graduate who champion’s design which is inspiring, original and cutting edge.

Mark Humphrey:
Mark Humphrey is recognised as one of the most accomplished and influential artists, designers and inventors of his generation. Named as one of Condé Nast magazine’s ‘Top 100 best designers’, he is reputed as ‘a modern day Da Vinci’ and applauded as ‘a new Renaissance man’ for his innovative use of objects and spaces. He has worked across an extensive range of art and design disciplines, his work is both versatile and prolific, and for the last two decades has been displayed and seen by audience’s world-wide.

The Deco Affair:
The Deco Affair 2011 is the brainchild of Jo Welch and Deco Living Media. It is an event designed to bring together high luxury and eco-friendly design, and to demonstrate how they can co-exist in a single scheme. Every piece has been handpicked by curated by The Deco Affair and its stylists, interior design team, 'Living in Space' to create a collection of the most cutting edge interior styles of the moment. The event is about conceptualising future trends and pioneering the promotion of winning emerging design talent. It is about staying passionate and committed to the true integrity of design, the evolution of interior fashion, harnessing talent and laying on an amazing showcase of inspiration and the ethos behind it.

KLC School of Design

KLC School of Design specialises in Interior Design and Garden Design Training.  The approach is geared to adult learning and we try to make the courses, however intensive, thoroughly enjoyable.  The school was established over 29 years ago by Jenny Gibbs FRSA MCSD BIID FICPD and has built up an outstanding international reputation over the years for providing practical, accessible and professional career training for the interior and garden design industries. KLC is the only school of design to be accredited by both the BAC (British Accreditation Council) and the ODLQC (Open & Distance Learning Quality Council).
