NID is the association for professional industrial designers in Norway. Members of the association have the exclusive right to use the title Industrial Designer MNID. The association was founded in 1955 and currently holds members working in product design, public- and transportation design, graphic and packaging design, communication and new media design, furniture and textile design. NID has its own secretariat taking care of the daily conduct of business, and issues information related to schools, members and other matters concerning industrial design.

NID has five categories of membership: Full Member (MNlD), Senior member (Sen.MNID), Honorary Member (Hon. MNID), Student-membership (Stud.MNlD), Supportive/associated Membership (Associated MNID).

NID is a member of the international design organisation ICSID. In Norway they cooperate with the other design organisations; NIL and GRAFILL.
